Syaza blogging from Singapore
On the way back for Acai Din from the UK, he made a stop over to Singapore for a couple of nights. Upon hearing this, the family consisting of Nenek boy, Nenek girl, Babu and Syaza together with Nenek Hj Zaimi and Nenek Hjh Shidah decided to greet Acai Din in Singapore. It was also a good chance to check out the Ramadhan scene in Singapore (and by that it means shopping and makan!!) Heheh
For Acai Din, this is a chance to make up for lost time. After one year of Indian food, Fish and Chips it was time to switch over to Malay Food! Woohoo!
In one evening, we had Sungkai in a halal Thai restaurant called Nana in Far East Plaza. The must have dish is the Thai Green Curry with beef. It was really good!
On the final night, the family moved to a bigger room in Hotel 81 and decided to have Sungkai in the room itself. With many food stalls just at the hotel doorstep, it turned out to be a frenzy of takeaways! Some even travelled far by taxi to get the desired dishes for sungkai.
One story worth mentioning is the Nasi Lemak from Selera Rasa in Adam Road food centre. This infamous dish was hotly pursued by Babu. Sampai membuat survey arah internet! Mula mula kan membali untuk sahur dimalam tapi tutup kadai atu pukul 9 malam. Memang disappointed lah mula-mula. Supaya tidak rugi traveling all the way to Adam road, membali saja Soto Ayam and Mutton chop. In one word: Wow! The Soto Ayam is another must-taste dish. Rupanya Babu ani termimpi-mimpi nasi lemak yg inda sampai di balinya ani. The next day, tanpa membuang masa, pergi lagi ke Adam road untuk menyampaikan teseliur ani. Alhamdullilah, baik jua sampai. And it indeed lived up to all the hype and the great reviews! Mesti dirasa!
In the Sungkai on the final day, Nenek boy bought another round of Mutton chop and Acai Din turned out having them both for sahur and sungkai!!! Hahaha To top it off, there is even Chilli Crab on the menu.
Here are some pictures. Warning: Viewing during puasa is not advised!
